The environmental Tank Cleaning Technician/ Laborer is primarily responsible for the cleaning and decontamination of petroleum tanks of various sizes, inclusive of # 2, # 4, # 6 oil and gasoline. Specialized training and certification in hazardous materials handling or a confined entry permit are generally required. May operate earth-moving equipment or trucks. Also, responsible for the cleaning and decontamination of regulated materials form spills, trenches, drains, oil/water separators, boilers, vats, and other industrial cleaning applications. The work is labor intensive and requires 24/7 on-call availability. Hazmat Technicians will be trained to perform all labor services work in strict compliance with all federal, state and local environmental and safety regulations.

Requirements:

  • Experience cleaning tanks preferred; Minimum 1 year experience in a related field required including but not limited to: environmental, pressure washing, industrial cleanings, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, roofing, or anything that’s “hands-on”
  • Successful completion of safety, mechanical, Hazmat, equipment and/or equivalent training (to be provided by MEG)
  • Individuals must be pro-active self-starters who can work safely in crews of 2-10 and follow chain of command structure, with guidance and orders dictated by supervisors and foreman
  • Availability and willingness to work weekends and/or overtime as needed; participate in rotating on-call schedule for 24/7 coverage
  • Willingness to travel 10-15% of the time between 8 offices or spill sites for emergencies/equipment delivery (travel expense and per diem provided)
  • Basic, mechanical, teamwork and troubleshooting skills are required
  • Prompt attendance on job assignments which may encompass early and after hours start times
  • The employee must be able to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 75 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk up and down slopes or uneven terrain, stand, lift, talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; use hands and fingers to feel, handle, or operate objects, tools, or controls; bend with legs and reach with hands and arms.
  • Must pass DOT hazmat physical, drug and alcohol screening, and detailed background check
