Dispatcher/Environmental Field Service Coordinator
Description: Miller Environmental Group, Inc. is an established leader in the Environmental Emergency Response Field with 10 locations. We have provided customers with quality service for over 35 years and continue to do so. We are seeking a Dispatcher/Environmental Operations Coordinator to join our team in our Westbury facility.
This position requires candidate to ensure and coordinate the efficient scheduling of crews to meet our customers demands, through dispatching/scheduling routine and emergency jobs and delivery of waste disposal. The candidate will work to ensure there is efficient utilization of field supervisors, foreman, drivers, laborers and equipment in a way that provides service satisfaction to all customers.
Duties include and are not limited to: *Dispatch and coordinate the movement of crews and equipment for daily scheduled jobs and emergencies *Responsible for all equipment assignment and accountability *Monitor fleet and drivers to ensure DOT compliance *Be accessible to all areas of the office, warehouse and yard, including assessing staged equipment for compliance on-site *Assist customers with setting appointments *Perform and supervise administrative functions such as work orders and manifests, coordinate waste shipments, waste profiling, report writing, invoicing, A/R, A/P etc. *Work with crews and drivers to resolve any problems they are having during their daily jobs *Make sure all paperwork associated with the operations is handled timely an correctly *Answer phones/help in the office/customer service functions *Communicate with training, HR and operations; *Assist in performing collections on delinquent accounts *Comply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as company policies/procedures *Perform administrative functions necessary in the daily operations *Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours emergency services *Other duties as assigned
Requirements: This position is in an office/warehouse environment. The hours may vary due to operational need. This position requires frequent contact with service center personnel. It is a fast-paced and deadline oriented environment.
The position requires the following: *A minimum of one year previous experience in a like environment; Must possess high school diploma or equivalent; *Must be able to effectively communication both orally and in writing with all levels of management, co-workers and customers; *Knowledge of DOT Rules and Regulations, Hazardous Materials Regulations; *Able to work independently and take initiative; Multi-tasked oriented and possess good organizational skills; *Knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially word and Excel; Knowledge of QuickBooks a plus *Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. The successful individual will be responsible for a corporate fleet including Trucks (Heavy and light), Vessels, and various equipment. Responsibilities include comprehensive inspections, maintenance, repair, and budget of all company equipment and is distinguished from the Mechanic level by the overall administrative responsibility for several branches, inventory control, purchasing, and disposal, and assistance with management of fleet support personnel.
Knowledge and experience with the administrative functions related to fleet management including but not limited to; inventory techniques; diverse equipment mechanics, tools & materials, and supplies used in motor vehicle fleet acquisition, utilization, maintenance, repair, and disposition. Additionally, experience in budget preparation; supervisory practices; procurement specification procedures; utilizing fleet software and operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Independently and successfully manage preventive and corrective maintenance for a corporate fleet. • Hands on preventive and light corrective maintenance. • Supervision and Management of multiple vendors at multiple locations used for heavy corrective maintenance, including reviewing estimates, assigning projects, auditing vendor craftsmanship, and auditing final invoices for payment. • Identifying areas to improve efficiencies and reduce costs • Assist the Fleet compliance Manager with administration for the company fleet maintenance software. • Assist in the training of mechanics at all company locations. • Travel within the NE United States is required and candidate must have his/her own transportation. • Producing timely documentation and reports for internal and external clients.
Required Qualifications To perform this job successfully, this dedicated individual must have a proven record of achievement, be detailed oriented, creative, proactive and persistent. Individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Strong communication and listening skills are critical for success. Transferable skills and experience/education in Mechanical Engineering is a plus. Candidate must have a working knowledge of automated fleet programs. Education and/or Experience
Needs experience in basic hands on mechanics on a diverse array of equipment. As well as, experience with problem solving of equipment challenges and supervisory staff.
